What is the difference between confidence and overconfidence?
Confidence and over Confidence is described as the state of being sure of one’s abilities. Overconfidence is the overestimation of one’s abilities or the ability of a particular object.
- Confidence is being comfortable in your own skin and expressing yourself without feeling insecure or nervous. It comes when one knows one’s strengths as well as faults, and accepts them to improve oneself. Overconfidence is when a person ‘believes’ that he/she is right every single time and that there’s nothing the others ‘need’ do, but follow him/her happily.
- According to me , the key difference between confidence & overconfidence is that– confidence in interview is described as the state of being sure of one’s abilities . On the other hand , overconfidence is the overestimation of one’s abilities. For example , When I say “I can do it” , it’s a confidence , but when I say ” Only I can do it , & nobody can do it except me ” , then it is overconfidence.
- There is a thin line between the two similar but contradictory words – confidence and over-confidence. Having confidence is “to believe in one’s own self and to know one’s own skill, potential and value. whereas having over-confidence is “to have unrealistic faith and belief on one’s capabilities”.

- Confidence is a thing which is vital for any person to survive in this world while over confidence leads to make you feel that you are superior to everyone surrounds you. But actually over confidence is a ‘myth’ rather than a reality and gives a pleasant feeling for the same period of time. At last I would like to say , Be Humble and stay Confident while speaking , writing, walking etc but not over confident .
