Job Summary:

  • CGI is looking for an experienced Mainframe Developer with strong expertise in COBOL, DB2, and VSAM to join our team.
  • The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting business-critical mainframe applications.
  • You will work closely with business analysts, QA teams, and other IT professionals to ensure seamless application functionality and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, DB2, and VSAM.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Perform data analysis and write complex SQL queries on DB2 databases.
  • Maintain and optimize batch and online programs.
  • Perform unit and integration testing; support user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Provide production support and troubleshoot application issues.
  • Participate in code reviews and follow coding standards and best practices.
  • Document application changes and update system documentation.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Strong hands-on experience in COBOL, DB2, and VSAM.
  • Experience with JCL, CICS, and mainframe utilities (e.g., IDCAMS, IEBGENER).
  • Knowledge of mainframe development lifecycle and change management tools.
  • Proficient in writing and debugging SQL and working with stored procedures in DB2.
  • Good understanding of file handling, batch jobs, and performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Waterfall development methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in financial services, insurance, or banking domain.
