Job Description:
The SMB Merchant Operations Specialist supports routine research and exception management functions for Small and Medium Business (SMB) merchant portfolios. This role ensures accurate transaction processing and resolution of customer-initiated requests, while maintaining compliance and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Research & Resolution:
- Investigate and resolve customer-initiated requests such as missing payments, out-of-balance issues, and reconciliation discrepancies.
- Assist in correcting transaction rejections and errors.
Transaction & Adjustment Processing:
- Handle ACH returns and related exceptions.
- Process monetary adjustments to client accounts accurately and timely.
- Re-key transactions and perform batch uploads when applicable.
Operational Support:
- Maintain accurate documentation for all adjustments and corrections.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth resolution of issues.
- Respond to inquiries and provide status updates to stakeholders.
Compliance & Accuracy:
- Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial data.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
- 1-4 years in financial operations, payment processing, or merchant services.
- Familiarity with ACH processes and reconciliation activities.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in MS Office and financial systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in SMB merchant portfolio management.
- Knowledge of transaction exception handling and batch processing.
