Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with strong expertise in RMAN backup management, Data Guard, and standby database administration. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring database reliability, availability, security, and optimal performance across production and non-production environments. Knowledge of cloud technologies is an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
1. Database Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain Oracle Database environments across multiple versions.
- Perform regular database health checks, performance tuning, and optimization.
- Manage tablespaces, data files, and storage structures to ensure efficient resource utilization.
2. RMAN Backup & Recovery
- Plan, schedule, and manage RMAN (Recovery Manager) backup strategies.
- Perform backup validation, restore, and recovery operations for databases.
- Troubleshoot backup failures and ensure high data protection standards.
3. Data Guard & Standby Database Management
- Implement and manage Oracle Data Guard configurations for disaster recovery.
- Create, monitor, and maintain physical and logical standby databases.
- Manage switchover, failover, and disaster recovery testing.
4. Performance Monitoring & Optimization
- Monitor database performance using Oracle tools (AWR, ASH, ADDM).
- Optimize SQL queries and tune instance parameters.
- Diagnose performance bottlenecks and provide sustainable solutions.
5. Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain database security standards, user access management, and auditing.
- Apply database patches, upgrades, and critical security updates.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and industry data protection policies.
6. Cloud & Other Technical Skills (Good to Have)
- Basic to intermediate knowledge in any cloud environment (e.g., AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud).
- Experience with cloud-based database services, backup solutions, or migration tools.
- Understanding of scripting languages (Shell, Python) for automation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
Expertise in:
- RMAN backup & recovery
- Standby database management
- Oracle Data Guard
- Tablespace and storage management
- Solid understanding of Oracle architecture and internal components.
- Experience with performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Good analytical, problemsolving, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Good to Have)
Experience working with cloud platforms (OCI, AWS RDS Oracle, Azure Oracle offerings).
Certification such as:
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
- Oracle Cloud certifications
- Exposure to automation and scripting for DBA tasks.
- Knowledge of high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies.
